Printer test page

Choose Complete, Color, or Black above, match A4 or US Letter to the paper in your tray, and click Print test page. In the print dialog use 100% or Actual size and turn headers and footers off.

Blank pages usually mean an empty or unseated cartridge, blocked ink flow, clogged nozzles, a removed-cartridge vent that is still sealed, or a driver sending the wrong page. Check supplies and protective tape, then print the printer’s built-in quality report. If that is also blank, focus on the printer rather than the document.

First print the built-in nozzle check or quality report. Inkjet gaps often indicate blocked nozzles, so run one normal cleaning cycle and retest. On laser printers, streaks may involve toner distribution, a drum, transfer component, or contamination. Do not apply inkjet cleaning steps to a laser printer.

A missing ink channel, low supply, draft mode, the wrong paper profile, or a custom color setting can shift colors. Check that every CMYK block prints, reset the driver to default color settings, choose the correct media type, and compare the result with the printer’s own quality report.

Doubled text or offset color edges usually call for printhead alignment on an inkjet. Reload the paper squarely, run the printer’s automatic or manual alignment routine, and print the same grid again. On a laser printer, use the built-in report to check whether paper movement or imaging hardware is involved.

That usually means the printer hardware can print and the issue is more likely the document, application, print queue, driver preset, selected printer, or connection. Reset the print settings and try the document from another app.

Confirm the correct printer is selected, then check its display for a paper, cover, ink, or network error. Clear paused jobs, reconnect USB or Wi-Fi, and restart the printer and computer. If the printer can produce its internal report, the remaining problem is probably the connection, queue, driver, or application.

The paper size and scaling setting do not match. Choose A4 or US Letter to match the loaded paper, select 100% or Actual size, and disable Fit, Shrink, borderless expansion, headers, and footers. A few millimeters of unprinted margin can still be normal on non-borderless printers.
