A PDF preserves page geometry, vector lines, type sizes and color definitions across devices more reliably than a screenshot. It is ideal when the printer is connected to another computer or when you want the same reference file for before-and-after comparisons.

Match the file, tray, and dialog.
An A4 PDF printed on Letter—or a Letter PDF printed on A4—will usually be scaled. That is harmless for a quick ink check, but it invalidates margins and geometry. Select the matching file and disable automatic fitting when alignment matters.
